Q. What is an F Distribution?
An F distribution is a positively skewed distribution derived from a sampling distribution of F ratios.
Some basic characteristics of the f distribution:
- It is positively Skewed.
- It is a distribution of F ratios: reflects the between-groups variance.
- F = 1 when variance between groups is the same as the variance attributed to error.
- A new F distribution is created when sample size changes:
- As sample size increases, the cutoff for a (alpha) approaches 1.0.
