Q. How can I find readability statistics for my IRB informed consent form?

The IRB Application requires readability reports for recruitment and informed consent materials. The IRB Application and support materials are located in the Dissertation Center, which can be accessed from the NCU Learner Portal under The Commons and Other Resources. Under the IRB Information section, there is a document called, Readability Help, which recommends two websites that can be used to determine the readability or reading grade level for your materials and form:

The Flesch Grade Level Readability Formula - Readability Formulas  - http://www.readabilityformulas.com/flesch-grade-level-readability-formula.php

Tests Document Readability - Online-Utility.org - http://www.online-utility.org/english/readability_test_and_improve.jsp

Additional websites include:

Microsoft Office Support - Test your document's readability - https://support.office.com/en-in/article/Test-your-document-s-readability-0adc0e9a-b3fb-4bde-85f4-c9e88926c6aa

Readability-Score.org - https://readability-score.com/
