Q. How do I transfer all of my EndNote citations into RefWorks?

Please follow the below instructions to export the data from your EndNote account into your RefWorks account. For instructions on how to create a RefWorks account see our FAQ here.

  1. Go to Web of Knowledge and login to your personal account. Click on the EndNote tab.
  2. Select the Format tab, then Export References.

  3. Under the References drop-down select All References in My Library (or whatever group you wish).

  4. Under the Export style drop-down select RefMan (RIS) Export.

  5. A dialog box appears for you to select the location where you want to save the file. Type a file name and select a location for importing into RefWorks. Click Save.

  6. Login to RefWorks.
  7. Select References, Import.

  8. Select Desktop Biblio. Mgt. Software as the import filter/data source and Reference Manager (RIS Format) as the database.

  9. Browse to locate the RIS file you saved to your computer.

  10. Click Import.

  11. Your records should automatically appear in the Last Imported folder.
