Q. Can I add references to RefWorks from a Word document?

There are several options for importing or adding references to your New RefWorks account. Please see the RefWorks Guide pages, Getting Information into RefWorks for other options.

The only file format that can be read by RefWorks for importing multiple citations at one time is an .ris format.

One option available to generate citations into metadata for an .ris file is Citation Finder: http://git.macropus.org/citation-finder/

Once on the Citation Finder page, follow the instructions provided to enter your citations, search for a match and select the correct citation from the options provided. After you've entered and matched your citations, then choose DOWNLOAD ALL SELECTED CITATIONS.

This will generate an .ris file. Save the file to your desktop and then login to your New Refworks account. Follow the instructions in the RefWorks Guide for Migrating References.
