Webinar - Qualitative Research Designs: Exploring the “Big Five” (Part 1) - 02/15/23

Answer

(Webinar) Although there are some key common characteristics inherent in qualitative research, there are significant variations in how a qualitative study can be designed and conducted. Each of the qualitative designs (also referred to as traditions or genres) encompasses specific ways of identifying a researchable problem; setting up the study; and collecting, analyzing, and presenting data. As the researcher, you will create the link among problem, purpose, and research design by carefully considering a research problem and purpose, focusing on researchable questions, and deciding how to best address these questions. Thinking along these lines allows you to select an appropriate and feasible research design, thereby affording your study methodological alignment or congruence. In this two-part series we will explain the five major qualitative designs with particular reference to (a) philosophical underpinnings; (b) methods of data collection and analysis; (c) presentation of findings; and (d) practical application. • On Wednesday, Feb 15, we will address Case Study and Phenomenology
