How do I locate a court case in the Library?

The library subscribes to Nexis Uni which is a great resource for accessing court decisions. To access Nexis Uni from the Library homepage, go to A-Z Databases and select the letter "N".

On the Nexis Uni home page, click on Cases and select either Federal Cases or State Cases. Enter keywords relating to your topic as shown below.

Nexi Uni search box with Cases selected under "What are you interested in?"

You may start browsing your results, or narrow the results using the limiters on the left-hand side, as shown below.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a specific case, you may enter the party names, citation number, or docket number. Follow the steps below:

  1. On the Nexis Uni home page, click on Get a Doc Assistance.
  2. It defaults to By Citation. Click on the tab for Cases by Party Name if you wish to search this way. You may also search Cases by Docket Number.
  3. Enter your search terms and click Search.
