How do I locate information about executive compensation?
You may use the NexisUni and Mergent Online databases to locate information on executive compensation. You may access them both by going to the A-to-Z Database List from the Library’s home page.
On the Nexis Uni home page, click on Business under "Discover Topics" in the lower left. Next, click on Company Dossier. Enter your company by name or ticker symbol. Once you have located your company, expand the SEC Filings tab from the company overview page, as shown below.
Mergent Online - Provides detailed financial records for company research, including up to 15 years of historical data. Also provides varied reporting options, including company and industry comparisons. Full-text available.
Use the Mergent Online Company Search to locate your company by name or ticker symbol. Similar to LexisNexis, once you locate your company, click on the Filings tab, as shown below.
Additionally, you may locate information about executive compensation on Yahoo Finance. Enter the company name or ticker symbol into the search box at the top of the screen.
Once you have selected your company, click SEC Filings under Company on the left-hand side of the screen, as shown below. The Profile tab also includes information on executive pay.
Also, please keep in mind that you may search general business databases, such as EBSCO Business Source Complete, for news articles about executive compensation that mention activist institutional shareholders such as CalPERS, TIAA-CREF, union pension funds, and Vanguard mutual funds. Additionally, you can locate other shareholder activist groups through the Corporate Governance web site.
