Why don't I have alumni access to all of the databases I had as an active student?

There are a number of factors affecting alumni access to Library databases including licensing restrictions, cost, and proven need or use. The Library’s first barrier is typically cost. While some database vendors do offer alumni access, the cost can be substantial and the Library needs to work within a set budget, ensuring access to new and needed resources for both matriculated students and alumni.

Second, a number of vendors do not offer alumni access due to licensing restrictions. This would include SpringerLink and Wiley Online Library. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Lastly, the Library needs to prove that alumni databases are not only needed but are being utilized. If you are a graduate, we strongly urge you to make use of the alumni databases. We understand the importance of research to alumni and the university, and we will continue to investigate adding more alumni databases in the future.
