I'm geting the following error message when trying to export references from NavigatorSearch (formerly Roadrunner): "Import failed. Oops, we encountered some technical issues. Please try again later." What should I do?

Unfortunately, if you receive this message it means that EBSCO is having an issue with their direct export to RefWorks feature. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are working with the vendor to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Please review the below video for a workaround to saving references from NavigatorSearch (formerly Roadrunner) and EBSCOHost databases:

To save references from NavigatorSearch (formerly Roadrunner) and EBSCOHost Databases, follow these steps:

  1. Conduct a search in Roadrunner or any EBSCOHost database. On the search results screen, click on the article title that you wish to export.                                                               Roadrunner/EBSCO search with search result link highlighted
  2. This will bring you to the Detailed Record for that resource. Under Tools, select Export
  3. Under "Save citations to a file formatted for," select Direct Export in RIS Format (e.g. CITAVI, EasyBib, EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager, Zotero) and click Save.Export manager in EBSCOHost with Direct Export in RIS Format selected
  4. A .ris file containing the bibliographic information will be downloaded. Save the file somewhere that you will remember on your computer.
  5. Login to ProQuest RefWorks at http://refworks.proquest.com/
  6. In the top navigation, click +Add and select Import ReferencesRefWorks Add button showing select Import References
  7. Select the .ris file from your saved folder and upload it to RefWorks. Select RIS Format as the file type. Click Import.                                                                                                            Import .RIS file format in RefWorks
  8. Your reference should automatically appear in the Last Imported folder.

In the meantime, please follow instructions below to manually save and export records from Navigator Search or EBSCOhost databases.
