What is Worldcat.org and how can I use it to find resources?

WorldCat.org is an online catalog that allows you to search the collections of libraries in your community and thousands more around the world. It is primarily used for locating books, music CDs, and videos—all of the physical items you're traditionally used to checking out from libraries. Worldcat.org does not provide full-text articles.

If you are searching for a physical book or resource, compare WorldCat holdings to see if a library near you has it available for checkout. In WorldCat, you can enter the resource title in the search box.

Worldcat.org search box

Click on the resource from the results list. On the resource summary page, you can enter your zip code or address in the Enter your Location box.

A list of libraries owning the resource will display. NOTE: Always confirm the availability of the resource by contacting the library directly.

Requests for articles and up to one book chapter per book title can be made and received electronically through the Interlibrary Loan service. For more information, please visit the Interlibrary Loan LibGuide.
