I'm trying to access a Library resource or database, but I am being re-routed to another institution's landing page for sign-in. Why am I experiencing this error?

Some users have reported an issue with being routed to another institution's login page when clicking on a resource through the Library. This may occur if you have used Zotero, a research management tool, and have it installed on your local computer or as an add-on to your web browser.

Zotero offers an option to redirect links through an institution's proxy server, and it is possible that this tool is redirecting you to an old method. A message like this will appear at the top of your browser screen:

Zotero proxy message

To disable Zotero's proxy redirect, you can click on Proxy settings, as displayed in the message bar.

You can also edit the proxy settings in your Zotero plugin through your web browser. To edit the proxy settings for Zotero in Chrome, go to the Chrome plugins, click the 3 dots next to Zotero Connector, and select Options.

Chrome extension

Choose Proxies on the left, and then uncheck the box for Enable proxy redirection.

Retest your access to resources in the Library after making this update.

If you continue to experience an access issue with resources, please contact the library directly during live help hours.
