How can I access O'Reilly for Higher Education?

Please note that users are no longer required to create personal accounts to access O'Reilly.

 

Help! I tried to log in, but I'm being asked to select my institution. 

Here's how to get logged in through NU's Single Sign On (SSO):

  1. When asked to Select your institution, select Not listed? Click here.


     
  2. Enter your NU email address, and click Let's go.
  3. Click on National University Students, Faculty, and Staff log in using Single Sign-On.
  4. Log in using your usual SSO credentials.
  5. Now you're in O'Reilly!

 

How do I use the O'Reilly mobile app?

The O'Reilly app is available for free on iOS/Android mobile devices.

  1. Download the iOS app from the Apple App Store or the Android app through Google Play.
  2. Launch the app.
  3. Enter your NU email address on the login screen, and click Sign In.
  4. You'll be taken to the NU Single Sign On page. Sign in as you normally would with your SSO credentials.
  5. You'll be redirected to the app. Click the magnifying class icon on the top right to search for ebooks or tutorials.

 

I created a personal account in O'Reilly. How can I access it?

If you created a personal account in O'Reilly prior October 2021, you can still access it (including any playlists you have made) following these steps:

  1. Make sure that you're signed out of O'Reilly. The option to sign out is on the grey menu on the left-hand side.
  2. Go to https://www.oreilly.com/ and click on Sign In.
  3. Enter your NU email address.
  4. Click on Show Password Field. Enter the password of your previously-created account, and click Sign In.


     
  5. You’ll now be logged into your previously-created account. You'll remain logged into your personal account until you sign out or clear your browser's cookies.

 

How do I create a personal account in O'Reilly?

We don't recommend creating a personal account in O'Reilly unless you intend to use its advanced features. You can access all of O'Reilly's tutorials and ebooks without a personal account.

To create an account:

  1. Go to www.oreilly.com/library/view/temporary-access/.
  2. When asked to Select your institution, select Not listed? Click here.


     
  3. Enter your NU email address, and click Let's go.
  4. Click Got it.
  5. You're in! You'll be sent an email to verify your email address. 

 

How do I generate a permalink to an item in O'Reilly?

O’Reilly Media’s support of SAML SSO allows for deep linking, which authenticates a user and redirects that user to a specific area or title on the O’Reilly Learning Platform. To create a permalink, copy the URL from your browser bar. Add https://go.oreilly.com/nationaluniversity/ to the beginning of the O'Reilly URL.
