Am I required to submit my dissertation to ProQuest?

Answer

As a condition of degree conferral, all doctoral students must submit their final and approved dissertation manuscript to ProQuest, National University’s approved dissertation manuscript publisher.

Upon receipt of a signed Dissertation Defense Verification Attendance Form from the Dissertation Chair (or other designee), the graduation department in the Office of the Registrar will email the Doctoral Dissertation Publishing instructions to the specific students listed on the form received.

Students must create an account with ProQuest in order to publish their dissertation manuscript. It is recommended that students use their personal email address to create this account instead of their students email address. Students may elect to buy additional services from ProQuest such as copyright services or bounding of dissertation copies; these are not required for graduation.

Students can request to have the dissertation bound through ProQuest; this is not a requirement for graduation nor are additional paper copies of the dissertation manuscript. Before the final dissertation manuscript is approved and sent to ProQuest for publishing, the graduation department in the Office of the Registrar will send and Approval Page to the student’s Dissertation Chair and Committee Member through DocuSign. Once the signed Approval Page is received, it is added to the student’s dissertation manuscript. The graduation department will then upload the edited dissertation manuscript to ProQuest and send for publishing.
